Sheriff: Robbery at Malad Post Office false
The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office said the armed robbery that allegedly occurred at the Malad Post Office on Wednesday was a false report.
Malad Postmaster Bradley David Hunter was charged Saturday with felony grand theft. He is being held in the Bannock County Jail on a $100,000 bail.
Deputies and postal inspectors investigated the initial robbery report and found evidence to charge Hunter. Hunter allegedly stole cash, which was recovered early Saturday.
Investigators also found mail at Hunter’s home that had been removed from the post office.
Hunter had been taken into custody Thursday on multiple misdemeanor drug and traffic violations.
