No elementary school in possible D93 bond
On Wednesday night, the Bonneville School District 93 school board will vote on a change in the potential $92 million bond.
Originally, the proposed bond would have been for a new high school, middle school and elementary school. Since, the board decided there wouldn’t be enough money to build all three well.
Instead, if the bond passes, the district will build the new secondary schools and not the elementary. Any remaining funds will go toward improvements to the existing high schools.
“We definitely have to build a new bus transportation facility to get those buses out of there. It’s just too much congestion for our size now. We had that back when we were 5,000 students and now we are 11,000,” said Chuck Shackett, superintendent for D93.
The bus facility would then be made into classrooms for the technical careers high school.
The new high school and middle school would go on land the district owns. That land is 80 acres on the southwest corner of 1st Street, 45th East Street, Lincoln Road and 55th East Street.
