Man gets 30 years behind bars for meth dealing
A man who was caught with 3 pounds of meth was sentenced to 30 years in prison in U.S. District Court in Pocatello on Thursday.
Mexican national Raymond Camacho, aka Jesus Mendoza-Nunez will be deported at the end of his prison term. He is 58 years old.
Camacho is the sixth person sentenced in this case. He pleaded guilty Jan. 24 of last year.
On Nov. 24, 2011, his vehicle was stopped by law enforcement officers in Bannock County. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Idaho said officers searched the vehicle and found the drugs, which contained more than 50 grams of actual methamphetamine. Based on surveillance and information provided by others, investigators found Camacho knew the methamphetamine was in the vehicle and intended to distribute to others.
Five co-defendants were sentenced in April and May 2013: Juan Aguilar, Juan Mendoza, Douglas I. McAdam, Marilyn Leones, Jose Rios-Jimenez. The final defendant in the case, Eldon K. McConnell, 49, of Pocatello, pleaded guilty Thursday to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
“Methamphetamine is a dangerously addictive substance that does great harm to our Idaho communities,” said U.S. Attorney Wendy J. Olson in a news release Friday. “Law enforcement officers in Idaho at all levels have worked tirelessly to identify, target and investigate major methamphetamine-distribution rings in all parts of the state.”
