New bus service could link Rexburg to nearby cities
Buses could soon connect Rexburg to Jackson and other nearby cities. Governments in four counties are working together to go after federal funding for this project.
The project could benefit BYU-Idaho students including Sydney Seyfi, who relies on shuttle buses to get around campus.
“I don’t have a vehicle of any kind, so mostly I just walk or get a shuttle when I can,” Seyfi said.
But if she and other car-less students want to get over to Jackson or other nearby towns, there’s currently no direct public transportation option.
Upper Valley officials want to introduce buses between Rexburg and Jackson that will run seven days a week.
“The TRPTA route right now is running Monday through Friday and not on weekends when students might be more interested in using it,” said Brown.
Starting next summer, officials hope to have a 150-day pilot program in place.
