4.4 earthquake hits Custer County

A magnitude 4.4 earthquake hit north of Challis on Monday afternoon.

The United States Geological Survey reported the quake epicenter at 14 miles north of Challis, hitting at 2:16 pm.

The quake depth was measured at 3.1 miles.

Several viewers reporting the shaking, but there is no word on any damage.

The quake was originally measured at a 4.6 magnitude, but was downgraded a couple of hours later.

This quake is the latest in a swarm of quakes to hit the central Idaho region.

On Saturday April 12th, the same region saw a 4.9 quake.
