Group behind political ad to get fined
The May primary election is over, but one political ad caught the attention of the secretary of state’s office.
The group called “Citizens For Fairness” didn’t register to run the radio ad here in Idaho.
Chief Deputy Tim Hurst said the secretary of state’s office is planning to fine Citizens For Fairness.
Hurst said the ad is not illegal, but citizens for fairness, “Needs to report expenditures as an electionary communication to disclose the money and the contributors,” said Hurst.
The ad supported state representative Jeff Thompson and ran on the radio
Part of the ad said “Tell them to join to Jeff Thompson’s fight for good jobs, good schools and the rights and freedoms of Idahoans. Paid for by the Citizens for Fairness.”
Citizens for Fairness did not return a call to Eyewitness News, neither did their attorney’s.
The secretary of states office said the dollar amount for the fine will be determined later.
