Doctors: Make sure to stay hydrated
With temperatures in the 90s and a lot of people heading outside for the Fourth of July, health experts are warning that extended time in the sun can lead to dehydration – and eventually, death.
EIRMC said it has seen a rise in cases of dehydration recently.
Doctors say the best way to avoid this is to stay hydrated.
“The recommendation is to just hydrate well before you even go out in the heat, and then just hydrate throughout the day and that usually means drinking frequently, but in small amounts to just kind of continually be sipping on something if you’re gonna be out,” said Dr. Andrew Garrity, who works in EIRMC’s emergency room.
Garrity said it doesn’t matter what you drink as long as it’s liquid.
