Gas prices declining in Idaho

Since last month gas prices in Idaho have gone down 6 cents. According to GasBuddy.com, last month we were paying $3.75 and this month we are paying $3.69.

There are many factors affecting the price. Wholesale prices have been going down, and “oil prices are also lower at a price that is substantially lower that we paid previously for some of the year. So we are getting some of the benefits of that, and as well as a less in demand. We are done with all the driving,” said Dave Carlson, director of public and government affairs for AAA.

This trend will continue because winter-grade fuel is starting to be produced.

“This week was the beginning of the switchover to winter-grade fuel. The winter-grade fuels are less expensive to produce for the refineries, and that cost gets passed down to motorist(s),” said Carlson

Although gas prices are going down, Idaho ranks sixth for the highest gas prices. The national average is $3.36, more than 30 cents less than in Idaho.
