Idaho Fish and Game cracks down on spotlighting

If you’re planning a hunting trip this fall, here is some news you’ll want to listen to: Idaho Fish and Game is cracking down on the illegal hunting practice known as spotlighting.

Spotlighting is when hunters use a high-powered spotlight at night to find big game like deer or elk. The department says it will be using artificially simulated animals, or ASAs, to catch violators.

Officials do this is in areas where this illegal hunting has happened.

“You need to aware that if you’re driving and spotlighting, you cannot have a firearm in a vehicle,” said Gregg Loskinski of Fish and Game. “If you’re caught with a firearm in the vehicle when you are spotlighting, then you could be issued a (misdemeanor) citation.”
