State Superintendent candidate debate in Idaho Falls

The candidates for state superintendent in Idaho debated in Idaho Falls Thursday.

Democrat candidate Jana Jones and Republican candidate Sherri Ybarra discussed several issue dealing with education at the City Club of Idaho Falls event.

Both ended the debate why they deserve your vote.

Jana Jones, “The choice for Idaho voters over this office is a very clear one. I am better prepared. I have more experience and will provide leadership you can count on, to always tell you exactly like it is. My opponent will continue the race to the bottom that Tom Luna has led us on. And I have to say, how a person operates as a candidate and the kind of campaign they run is indicative of how they’ll be in office.”

Sherri Ybarra said, “You really do have a stark difference in choices for candidates for this position. I have been on the front lines of education for nearly 20 years with my sleeves rolled up, earning the respect of the very team that I’m going to need to lead forward in Idaho. I am a conservative leader who believes in stretching the dollar and using it adequately. I also understand that I am in the prime of my career. I have the enthusiasm, the skill set and the energy to move us forward in Idaho.”

The full debate will air on the Local News 8 NOW channel 8.4 at 7 p.m.
