Zoo’s new grizzly has name
A young grizzly bear at the Pocatello Zoo now has a name.
Zoo patrons voted for the name of Shoni.
The public chose from three names. The others were Stars and Weda. A minimum $1 donation was required to vote. The zoo raised $530 during the contest.
The 2-year-old bear was caught in a trap in Wyoming’s Shoshone National Park before she was brought to the zoo in September.
She is out of quarantine and has begun the “slow introduction process” to the exhibit and Stripes, the zoo’s other grizzly, according to a news release Monday.
