Tuition on track to stay low at ISU
Idaho State University’s president gave his annual State of the University address Wednesday night. One topic that had a lot of students talking: tuition.
Last year, tuition at ISU rose just around three percent, which the school said is the lowest increase in 20 years.
“Increases in tuition are almost going to zero,” said ISU President Arthur Vailas.
Student leaders say keeping tuition low is important to them.
“Financial reasons are one of the main reasons nationwide that students don’t go to school anymore,” said ISU Student Body President Kyle Son.
“It’s definitely one of my priorities and concerns as student body president is making sure that tuition doesn’t go up,” said Son.
This year, tuition for in-state students is just over $3,200 per semester. That’s about $100 more than last year.
“I’m hoping to hear that the university will continue to stay on that track of low tuition, low costs to students,” said Son.
