Bannock County chairman to return to duties

The Bannock County Commission chairman will be returning to his duties.

In a message to Local News 8, Howard Manwaring wrote that he has been dealing with a life-threatening illness and has been hospitalized three times since June.

He had most recently spent eight days in the hospital.

“My physician as well as the physicians and staff at (Portneuf Medical Center) have been able to assist me to the point that I am going home today from the hospital,” he said Tuesday.

Commissioner Steve Hadley has been serving as acting chairman when Manwaring stepped back from his post in October. Manwaring said despite the rumors, he was not resigning.

“I will be returning to my elected position and will continue to work toward excellent health,” he said.

Manwaring said he was “very appreciative to the community for their outpouring of love and support.”
