Crapo reacts to shift in Washington

Republicans gained control of the U.S. Senate and maintained their majority in the House in Tuesday’s election, and one Idaho senator says this will make a huge difference in how things are done in Washington.

“The difference is that now our agenda will be voted on on the floor of the Senate. We have not been able to have a vote on any of our significant ideas over the last four to six years because the Senate has literally been shut down to regular order,” said Crapo at a celebration at Republican headquarters in Boise on Tuesday night.

Crapo said this means the GOP will be able to achieve its goals for the country.

“And what this will mean is we will now have an opportunity to put on the agenda our vision of how we should govern in America,” he said. “And I think the votes you’re seeing across this country show that America wants a different vision. What America is saying right now is, ‘Wait a minute. What we’re getting is not what we wanted and not what is good for this country.'”

Crapo said he hoped President Obama would change his vision and work with Republicans.
