How to register to vote on Election Day
If you are not a registered voter, but are qualified to be, you can still vote in Tuesday’s election.
Registering at the polls isn’t hard. You just need to make sure you’re at the right place and have the right paperwork.
The first thing you have to do is find out where your polling place is. You have to be in the correct precinct to vote. If you live in Idaho, click here to find your polling place. Wyoming voters should click here.
If you end up at the incorrect polling place, you will have to go to the correct one.
To register, you have to have proof and residence and a photo ID with you, such as a driver’s license.
If you don’t have a license, there are other options.
“Photo identification … can be a Sam’s Club card, a high school activities card, a yearbook picture — anything that has their picture as well as their name on it,” said Bonneville County Elections Supervisor Penny Manning. “And so they can use anything like that and then they would need to supplement that with a proof of residence.”
A proof of residence can be a piece of mail with your name and address on it, like a utility bill. A current driver’s license with your current address on it also qualifies as a proof of residence.
