Students weigh in on school menu

Bonneville Joint School District No. 93 started its new student lunch committee.

The committee consists of six students from Bonneville High School, but there will soon be 15 total. Students will meet after school a couple times each month to taste test recipes that follow federal nutrition guidelines.

“The overall goal is to provide meals for the kids that they enjoy, that are nutritious that they feel like they own and that they had a say in what we are serving,” said Child Nutrition Director Heather Plain.

Pancakes, ravioli and quesadillas are just a few options that students tried. Plain said each meeting there will be several new options for students to try. She said options that students approve will take about a year to implement.
