Search party organized to find body of shooting victim

A search party will be organized Saturday to find the body of Darrell Auck, who authorities said was killed in a shooting in Fort Hall.

Fort Hall Police believe Auck, 44, was killed on or about Oct. 15, but his body was never found.

Witnesses told police that Anthony Ish, 32, killed fellow tribal member Auck outside the Ish home on East Agency Road. Ish was arrested on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon, but Auck’s body was never found.

The Fort Hall Business Council previously offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the recovery of the body of Darrell Auck.

On Friday, the Shoshone-Bannock tribes invited tribal and non-tribal volunteers in aid authorities from various local agencies in the search for Auck’s body in the Ross Fork district wast of the Fort Hall reservation.

If you would like to help, attend a briefing at the Shoshone-Bannock Hotel & Event Center parking lot at 8 a.m. Saturday. Volunteers should dress appropriately for the weather and rough terrain. Fort Hall Recreation will provide transportation to volunteers from the parking lot to the search site via a large bus.

If you have any questions on Saturday’s search, call police at (208) 681-3724. Anyone wanting to organize a future search should call (208) 238-4000.
