Rimrock Elementary students get new greenhouse

Students at Rimrock Elementary School are getting a new greenhouse after weather damaged the old one.

The new greenhouse will be fully installed over Thanksgiving break, and students will begin planting by January.

Fourth-grade teacher Julia Abbott said the process of growing plants is a great learning experience.

“That’s how students learn is from doing and seeing,” she said.

She said the students also grow from the added responsibility.

“Because the students are the ones that water it every day – three times a day they water it. They have to come on weekends, and they come during spring break, so it teaches them much more than plants and how they grow,” said Abbott.

The money for the greenhouse was made possible from a grant by the CHC Foundation of Idaho Falls.
