Emergency helicopter to be based in Rexburg
An emergency helicopter will be based in Rexburg’s airport.
Life Flight Network announced Monday it would have a base that would be operational 24/7 at the Rexburg-Madison County Airport starting Feb. 20.
The Agusta helicopter would benefit patients needing to transfer patients from Madison Memorial Hospital, Teton Valley Hospital, Steele Memorial Center and St. John’s Medical Center. It will also be able to help injured tourists in Yellowstone National Park.
The will would be staffed with flight nurses, flight paramedics, pilots and mechanics. Life Flight Network said the helicopter would add $1.2 million to the local economy.
“The Madison Fire Department is excited to have a medical helicopter located at the airport in Rexburg. We believe its close proximity will be a great contributor to patient care due to timeliness of hospital access,” said Fire Chief Corey Child.
Life Flight Network said it is the country’s largest not-for-profit air medical service and offers memberships. For more information, click here.
