Gas leak in Blackfoot closes business

A gas leak closed a business in Blackfoot on Friday.

Authorities got 911 calls around 7:45 a.m. reporting a gas leak that people could both smell and hear on Bridge and Judicial streets.

A garbage truck had set down a Dumpster in an alleyway and clipped a gas pipe, causing the leak, police said.

Most businesses were closed at the time. One of them had a lot of gas fumes and was being ventilated as of 1 p.m. Friday.

Firefighters checked and cleared nearby businesses.

Police did not release the name of the business.
