Community meeting to be held about proposed D-93 school

Those who have some concerns about a proposed high school for District 93 will soon have the chance to let school officials know.

The first site committee meeting will be Wednesday night.

Architects, engineers, and the county commissioner are a few of those attending Wednesday’s meeting. They’ll be there to answer questions community members have school officials are encouraging everyone to attend.

School officials said it’s important for the community to be involved. The community’s opinion has already helped with the proposal.

“We initially wanted to have a football field and auditorium, and that cost for that building was $62 million. So we went to the community with a survey, and it was very clear that they came back and said, ‘If you want this to pass, you’ve got to take out the football field and you got to take out the auditorium,’ which dropped the total cost to $56.1 million, ” said school superintendent Charles Shackett.

If the bond passes, the football team will play on Thunder Stadium.

Shackett said he is confident the bond will pass because District 93 has been working so closely with the community.
