Local church helps women overcome addiction

When you first meet Natalie Peterson you would have no idea that for years she struggled with a meth addiction.

While Peterson battled this she lost more than just control;she lost a finger after getting an infection from injecting herself in the arm.

Peterson served time in prison for a drug-related felony and that’s when she knew she wanted to change.

“I had been praying a lot in jail and it was an answer from him on what I needed to do,” said Peterson.

The answer, enrolling in a spiritual-based rehab.

Peterson said one of her biggest blessings is Kim Rangel.

“It’s probably more beneficial for me to see someone get their life together through Jesus than when I got my life together,” said Rangel.

The women are under supervision at all times and have rules that they must follow.

They live inside the church and have full schedules every single day for four months.

The women cook and clean for themselves.

The idea is to help them transition back to a normal life.

“Facing addiction or having problems just reach out there are people who can help and be there for you and one of those people is God,” said Peterson.

It costs $2,000 for a woman to complete the four months.

The church needs help funding women who can’t afford it.
