New Museum of Idaho exhibit will get under your skin
It might sound a little strange, but insects are the first responders at a crime scene.
Scientists use them to find out different things, like the exact time of a victim’s death, if drugs were involved, or what the weather was like when they died.
Understanding how insects are used in criminology takes a deeper look into entomology.
The exhibit features a number of live insects, a fake morgue, two “real” crime scenes that museum-goers can solve and much more.
“People are captivated with the idea of forensics and crime scene investigations and this just gives people a little behind-the-scenes glimpse in to the unsung heroes of crime scene investigation,” said Laura Cooley with the Museum of Idaho.
She says those of all ages have something to be excited about.

The idea is to take a look at the role insects play into the circle of life.
“You know a lot of people just take them for granted or try and kill off as many of them as possible when in fact they are helpful to you,” said exhibit director Ted Hansen.
