Reed’s Dairy joins Ammon expansion
Reed’s Dairy announced plans to open its second location in Ammon after requests from customers.
“We posted on our Facebook page that we were expanding over here. We’ve had over 4,000 likes to that post so we think that’s a really good sign,” said owner Alan Reed.
Reed said the company is preparing to open a storefront next to Jiffy Lube on Sunnyside and Hitt Road. The ice cream parlor will be one of several businesses that have moved to the intersection as construction continues in the new SandCreek Commons shopping strip.
“We’re really excited about this corner here. With all the growth that’s there, we think it’s going to be a great opportunity to be involved in what Ammon has going on,” said Reed. “We hope we get lines out the door.”
Linda Martin, CEO of Grow Idaho Falls Inc. said collaboration between Ammon and the city of Idaho Falls toward the Hitt Road project has been a big factor in developing the area.
“A lot of the new construction comes down to the traffic flow, because it’s a nice road. It’s wide and it has plenty of turns and opportunities there. I think that’s just a natural growth pattern that should be expected,” said Martin.
Although more infrastructure and medical facilities along Sunnyside could also explain the natural flow of business to the east, Martin said Ammon has invested a lot of time and money into expanding its economic growth, especially when it comes to implementing advanced broadband within its commercial area.
“Many of those businesses require additional telecom capacity and speed and the things that are necessary to do business today,” said Martin. “Ammon being able to have that ability, which they announced a couple of years ago that they were going to try, I think that’s showing fruitful measures as far as the companies that are showing interest in Ammon.”
Reed’s Dairy will hold a soft opening next week. It will continue its dairy operations at the west side location.
