Dunn stays in office after failed recall election
Jefferson County will keep its prosecutor after a failed recall election Tuesday.
The recall effort needed 9,157 votes to be successful. Although the majority of those who voted were for ousting Dunn (3213-733), not enough people turned out to the polls to remove the prosecutor from office.
Dunn has served as Jefferson County’s prosecuting attorney for more than 30 years, but some in the county say he can no longer be trusted. One of their complaints is that the law firm Dunn owns charged $18,000 to the county while he was representing the county in a federal case. Dunn later reimbursed the county.
