Report: Beer gives $1.2 billion boost to Idaho
Beer is becoming a big business in the Gem State.
It has a direct economic impact valued at $1.2 billion, according to a report by the Beer Institute, which represents more than 2,000 breweries nationwide.
Businesses in eastern Idaho tell Local News 8 beer has also given them a boost.
“In the last year, our sales have gone up at least 50 percent,” said Taresa James, manager at Pub New Harmony in Pocatello.
Brewing is now responsible for $10 million in wages in Idaho. Last week, Pocatello’s Great Western Malting plant broke ground on a multi-million dollar expansion expected to add 10 new jobs.
