Stock market fears: How they’re impacting eastern Idaho
Stocks took a dive on Monday causing some people to worry about their investments.
“We have gotten a lot of calls today, so I know this is weighing heavily on a lot of people’s minds,” said local financial adviser Jennifer Landon. “We’re also not seeing anything that we hadn’t already planned for.”
The Dow Jones Industrial Average went down more than 1,000 points in a matter of seconds.
The market did gain back some of its losses, but is still down for the day.
Landon said now is a good time to figure out where you stand.
“Assess your risk tolerance and determine really how you’re positioned, and how you’re currently invested, and what your goals are what you’re trying to accomplish, and why you’re invested the way you’re invested,” she said.
The best advice she said she has right now it to keep emotion out of it.
“Anytime that you’re trying to make a decision about your finances, try to make sure that it’s a fact based decision and not an emotionally driven decision,” Landon said.
