Flu season is upon us and doctors say it’s time to get vaccinated

Flu season is upon us and doctors say it’s time to get vaccinated.

The flu is caused by a virus and is a respiratory illness.

Symptoms include: fever, dry cough, sore throat, body aches, fatigue, and chills.

There are preventative measures you can take in addition to the vaccine. Stay home and recover if you have symptoms to avoid spreading the virus. Wash your hands regularly, and cover coughs and sneezes.

James Corbett from East Idaho Public Health said it’s important to realize the flu is more than just the sniffles.

“Flu is a serious disease and it’s potentially deadly for some we have about annually about 36,000 deaths each year,” he said.

The flu season stretches from October through May.
