Group is looking for mentor volunteers

The Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Southeast Idaho are in need of mentors.

The non-profit is struggling with volunteers, especially Big Brother volunteers.

Executive Director Judy DeRoche said, this is great program and it keeps kids on the right track.

“I’ve been doing this for about 26 years and the kids here, stay in school, they stay out of trouble, and we’ve never had a kid arrested for a violent crime,we’ve never had a pregnant teen. It’s a program that works it is very effective,” said DeRoche.

The group has a couple little sisters and brothers who currently waiting for mentors.

DeRoche has stopped by local businesses to drop off pamphlets which she hopes will get the word out. To be a Big Brother or Big Sister you have to apply, its a three week process and its a free program.
