Potato harvest brings the nation’s top bloggers, chefs to Idaho
The potato harvest is in full swing and it’s bringing in some of the nation’s top food bloggers and chefs to eastern Idaho.
This is the fourth year the Idaho Potato Commission has invited them here for the harvest.
This brings in people from all over like New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.
It’s all to teach them about the potato. They see everything from processing plants to shipping facilities. Travis Blacker from the Idaho Potato Commission says digging the potatoes is the favorite part.
“They just think it’s the most amazing thing in the world, to see these fresh potatoes come up out of the ground.” he said. “Their reaction is priceless.”
The Idaho Potato Commission expects 13 billion pounds of potatoes to be harvested this year. That would fill about 500 football stadiums.
