Urban renewal projects revitalizes Rigby South Park
Goodbye gravel parking lot and hello new pavement. A new parking lot is just one of several improvements made at South Rigby Park over the past year.
Other improvements included recently installed street lights, improved seating at the Rigby Rodeo Grounds, and new curbing and sidewalks along a portion of Rigby’s State Street. The $1.75 million project is meant to make the area more attractive to live and do business.
City leaders say the improvements at Rigby South Park were needed. “We had 26 weekends here, and we had events on 23 of those,” said Rick Lamoreaux, the Rigby Public Works Director. “We stay very busy.”
Some of the groups that helped included urban renewal, the city of Rigby, Jefferson County, multiple eagle scout projects, the transportation department, and several local businesses.
“It really was a lot of collaboration with a lot of organizations and a lot of people,” said Marvin Fielding, a project manager representing Keller Associates, the main firm that helped with the project.
The official ribbon cutting will be held today at 3:30. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
