Hillcrest honors veterans

Hillcrest High School made sure that its students understood the importance of Veterans Day Wednesday .

Veterans and their families came for an assembly and luncheon in their honor. The school’s choir preformed the anthem for each branch of service.

A couple of vets spoke about their time in the service- and what they learned while serving.

One veteran said that it is important for today’s students to remember all vets.

James Greenhalgh, a Vietnam veteran who attended the event, said, “Yes, it’s a good idea, that these kids learn that this country is free, but it’s only free because people served. They fought and died for this country. All veterans that have fought in every war. Men and women.”
