Update: Burn ban and air quality advisory for Franklin County lifted

Update: Air quality conditions in Franklin County have improved thanks to new weather patterns. The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality has lifted the wood burning ban and air quality advisory for the county.

Original story: An air quality advisory and wood burning ban have been issued for the Franklin County area due to elevated pollutant levels and a stagnant atmosphere.

While the advisory is in effect outdoor wood burning is banned and residential wood burning is restricted to certified or exempt wood burning stoves.

Air quality is currently considered to be in the unhealthy for sensitive groups category. The elderly, children, those with respiratory illnesses or who are sensitive to changes in air quality are recommended to avoid prolonged outdoor exposure.

Air quality in the county will be reevaluated Friday morning.
