Thousands in grant money given to 15 schools in District 93

The Bonneville Education Foundation received 56 applications during its grant season and they were able to award more than $11,700 to local teachers in the Bonneville School District.

The 56 applications set a new record for the foundation.

“In every case these teachers will be able to accomplish very well thought-out, specific classroom instruction goals that they could not have done without this award,” said Board Chair, Shelley Andrus. “What’s unique is that in every grant request, the teacher (or group of teachers), has decided, ‘I could accomplish my goals if I had this one thing.’ We were able to give them this “one thing” so they could achieve their very specific goals.”

The grants ranged in size from $65 at Ucon Elementary to $2,799.14 at Rocky Mountain Middle School. In all, 15 of D93’s 22 schools received grant money during the grant season.

“As a foundation board we love to award these requests because they demonstrate a lot of thought and consideration for what is best for large amount of students over a long period of time,” said Andrus. “When making awards, these are our two biggest considerations.”
