Pocatello’s Partner in Pride program helps community with spring cleaning

Spring is almost here and that means spring cleaning projects.

Pocatello’s Partner in Pride program can help make the job a little easier. The city sanitation department has trash containers that community members can reserve.

They have 3-yard or 17-yard sizes. People can put their unwanted items in the boxes and the city picks them up and gets rid of them. Anything can go in the boxes except tires, fridges and hazardous materials.

They’re free, you just have to reserve them in advance.

Debbie Brady, recycling coordinator for Pocatello City, said the boxes go fast so if you want one, book it soon.

The 3-yard boxes, which are 6 feet by 4 feet long, are available Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. They still have many available. The 17-yard boxes, which are 20 feet by 8 feet long, are the most popular. They are booked for every weekend through August already. There are still a few open for Mondays and Wednesdays.

The sanitation department said the boxes are a great way to keep trash from being dumped around the city.

“We feel like it is keeping businesses from getting illegal dumps in their containers,” said Brady. “We also feel like it helps with people just dumping things off in an alley because if there’s a free way to get rid of it, they’re more willing to get rid of it that way.”

If you’re interested in booking one, you can call Pocatello Sanitation Department at 208-234-6192.
