2016 EMS Conference attracts hundreds
Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center (EIRMC) holds their fifth annual EMS Conference Saturday.
The conference is designed to support CEU requirements for AEMTs, EMTs EMRs and paramedics.
First responders attended hands-on training courses such as trauma, special patient populations, medical condition, airway management, pharmacology and pediatric assessment.
The Wilderness Medicine course practiced outdoor emergency methods such as using tents to move a person who has sustained a serious neck injury.
“I learned how to do a one person log roll, to make sure a person is out of the mud and water and onto an area which is safer,” Mindy Ray said.
An EMT from Shelley-Firth Stephen Owens said, “Having conferences like this are important because we get to connect with first responders from different counties and keep are skills sharp.”
He also said every year we do a free training so we can re certify or certifications and continue our education. This will be my third year doing this,” Owens said.
EIRMC was also recognized Saturday for becoming a state certified Level II Trauma Center.
