Upcoming road construction: Paving the way to better roads
Yellowstone Ave and other roads, up to 36 miles worth, will be receiving a facelift this year.
“This project will be a night time project which will have lane closures from 7p.m. to 7a.m.,” said James Orner, Engineer Manager, Idaho Transportation Dept.
Each road will be receiving a special kind of treatment to properly make a better use of them in the long run, and will be saving a lot of taxpayer dollars.
Last year, city crews were able to resurface 44 miles of streets, as in total, Pocatello has more than 260 miles of roads. This year, drivers of all kinds are anticipating better, smoother roads.
“I’m excited about it. Because my friends and I, we ride motorcycles,” said Lori Targett, bike rider.
“If you drive a car, you will always have some sort of mishap that you’re always going to have to repair because of bad roads,” said Tara Capson, driver.
City road crews want to remind everyone that while these road construction plans go through, they can be lead to cancellation or postponements due to certain weather conditions. And also, to drive carefully and slow down within road construction zones.
