Bonneville County Clerk Ron Longmore announces retirement

After nearly four decades of service, Bonneville County Clerk Ron Longmore is retiring. He announced his leave among fellow commissioners in a press conference Thursday.

Longmore has seen the county grow and has made great impacts throughout his tenure. He decided to retire with 2 years left in his official term.

He was elected county clerk 10 times in his career; the longest time someone has held an office in Bonneville County History.

Longmore says he and his wife are ready to take the next step in their lives and be surrounded by family. He is looking forward to settling down in Utah with his kids and grandkids.

Those who have worked with him say he will be missed.

“Of all the elected officials I’ve served with, I think he’s shown the most dedication to just doing the job, doing it correctly, being open and honest. He’s an outstanding individual, hard to replace. One of the best in the state,” said Bonneville County Commission Chairman Roger Christensen.

To fill Longmore’s position, the Republican central committee will submit three names then turn those names over to the county commissioners. The commissioners will make the final choice from there.

Longmore’s last day in office will be July 31st.
