Road to recovery: New Center for HOPE

The Idaho Association of Counties, along with Bonneville County, celebrates the funding of the Center for HOPE (Helping Others through Peer Empowerment) on Monday afternoon.

The new recovery center will be open to anyone 18 and older who is looking for help kicking a destructive habit or is battling mental illness.

This will be the fifth recovery center in the state of Idaho.

The center will also work closely with the Behavioral Health Crisis Center, providing people with support who want to continue on the recovery path.

Through the Millennium Fund, the Legislature was able to provide $150,000 of funding toward the recovery center.

The Millennium Fund is a trust fund was set up from Idaho’s share of proceeds from a nationwide tobacco settlement.

Local donations were also given to the center for HOPE. The center will encourage people to utilize computers, telephone systems and other resources to find jobs, keep jobs and expand their skills.

Idaho Association of Counties Executive Director Daniel Chadwick said this center will help many people.

“This has been in the works for a little over a year now. We have four existing recovery centers in the state; there are four news ones that were authorized by the legislature this last session. Bonneville County was quick to come and ask to be apart of the second round of recovery centers,” Chadwick said.

County Commission Chair Roger Christensen said he was proud that the community chose to pursue and support the project.

The recovery center is due to open July 1. and is located near Fred Meyers.
