Bystanders help put out car fire in parking lot

A couple of good Samaritans helped put out a car fire in the Albertson’s parking lot in Ammon Friday, and one man in that group was on his way to the hospital for cancer treatment.

Jordan and his wife Kari Clay were meeting a friend when this all happened. Once they noticed the fire, they grabbed a fire extinguisher from a gas station.

Another man from a nearby fireworks stand also grabbed an extinguisher.

Together, they were able to put the fire out.

Jordan says he didn’t think twice about helping.

“Didn’t even think about it,” Jordan said. “You see people in harm or, you know, possible harm to anybody and it’s just kind of one of those instincts that kick in.”

“He’s a caregiver in general,” Kari said. “He’s just an amazing person. So, you know, regardless of his cancer, you know, and being stage four terminal cancer, I mean yesterday we were told he has four to six weeks so I mean he kind of just jumped into action, you know, it’s he didn’t even think for a second ‘hey, I’m sick I need to go to the hospital. “

The Clays say they try to keep a positive attitude during all of this.

They are also thankful for all of the support from friends and family.
