Cal Ranch breaks ground on new store
Cal Ranch broke ground Monday morning for its new flagship store located just north of Walmart on Hitt Road and South 25 east.
The new store will be built by Tom Stuart Construction and will feature 70,000 square feet of retail space.
The ranch and home retail company was founded in 1959 by Clinton Murphy and his sons, Allen and L. Wayne Murphy.
According to CalRanch.com, the company has 26 stores in Idaho, Utah, Nevada, and Arizona and a distribution center in Payson.
The original owners eventually sold the company but they still play a role in facilitating new location sales through Venture One Properties.
Longtime Cal Ranch employee Jerry Ward and his family currently own the company.
In addition to the new store, Cal Ranch plans to build a 30,000 square-foot office space on Curlew Drive, behind the new store.
