Republican National Convention kicks off Monday
The Republican National Convention gets underway today in Cleveland.
With the “Never Trump” movement likely effectively silenced, Monday’s gathering of the GOP is the beginning of the party’s coronation ceremony for presumptive nominee Donald Trump.
The convention officially gets started at 1:00 with a speech by U. S. Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas.
The convention lineup then has an eclectic mix of speakers and guests including the father of a teen killed by an undocumented immigrant, the star of the cable show “Duck Dynasty,” former Texas Governor and one-time presidential candidate Rick Perry, 80s sitcom star Scott Baio and a host of military veterans.
Montana’s lone Congressman and former Navy Seal, Ryan Zinke, is also scheduled to speak along with survivors of the 2012 attack in Benghazi, Lybia.
Also expected to speak is Trump’s wife, Melania, Former New York Mayor Rudy Guliani and other GOP notables.
Donald Trump’s official nomination is scheduled for early Tuesday evening.
