Pocatello firefighters suit up for “Fill the boot” fundraiser
It’s time to “Fill the Boot.” The Pocatello fire fighters annual fundraiser is Friday. So fire fighters will bel hitting the streets with their boots in hand for people to drop cash into.
“Fill the Boots” is a national fire fighters campaign. It collects donations from the community to help the Muscular Dystrophy Association. All money collected goes toward research, cures and camps for kids who have muscular dystrophy. It also helps kids and families with muscular dystrophy to pay medical bills.
Firefighters said it’s a fun event for both them and the community. They said the community is also very supportive.
“We appreciate Pocatello and Chubbuck, as well,” said Cole Bybee, the coordinator for the fundraiser. “They’ve done a really good job of being generous throughout the years and helping out with this fundraiser.”
“We get a lot of positive participation from the community,” said Capt. Andy Moldenhauer, vice president of firefighters local #187. “People are generally pretty friendly and it’s pretty interesting when we have a college kid go past and you can tell that they’re poor but they give us everything they’ve got.”
Firefighters will be at the corner of Oak and Jefferson from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Last year, Pocatello raised $8,400 for the cause.
