Field flooding threatening home
A family in the Jamestown area, east of Shelley, is dealing with some serious flooding issues Tuesday night.
Jacob Schuldt lives at 1275 East 1200 North. He tells KIDK Eyewitness News 3 anchor Todd Kunz that the farmer’s field to the north of his house flooded Tuesday afternoon in about four hours. Now his driveway between the main road and his garage is a lake and even looks like a flowing river. He said the water is 20 inches deep on the driveway itself and more than 2 feet once you step off.
“Tonight we just plan on getting the garage cleaned up, getting everything off the floor because that is our first priority. I have a crawl space. It was leaking. I think we got that fixed,” said Schuldt.
“It’s not coming into the house though?” asked Kunz.
“Not yet. I’ve got a backhoe,” said Schuldt.
“You are going to do some digging tomorrow morning?” asked Kunz.
“We’re going to try. I’ve got stuck twice. I had to dig myself out,” said Schuldt.
In the meantime, neighbors could be seen helping get things off the garage floor. He said he has talked to Bingham County officials and they would love to help, but there is nothing really they can do. There is just no place for the water to go.
Schuldt fears the flooding is going to get worse.
