Utah won’t get bike show over public lands stance

Utah is not just losing the chance to host an outdoor trade show that’s been staged in Salt Lake City for two decades, it now won’t be considered as a host for a large cycling exhibition. The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Salt Lake City was in the running to host the Interbike cycling exhibition, but it’s no longer being considered because of the state’s public lands policy. The news comes soon after Utah called for President Donald Trump to rescind the new Bears Ears National Monument. The bike show sees about 20,000 guests each year, and is known for bringing some $20 million to its host city. It has been staged in Las Vegas for almost two decades, but its owner is considering a venue change.
