East Idahoans getting fed up with winter following another snowstorm

Thursday and Friday brought more snow to east Idaho, putting us on track to break the record for the snowiest winter.

According to the National Weather Service out of Pocatello, the Gate City is on track to break the 85-inch record set back in 1993.

“It makes me numb,” Theresa Jones, 9, of Idaho Falls said. “I don’t like it.”

Theresa is not alone in her disdain for winter. Wes Jones grew up in Idaho and lived in Island Park for many years. He says he’s used to winters with heavy snowfall, but this winter has been unusual.

“I really don’t mind winter, but this has been a little long this year,” Wes said. “They can send us some of that global warming one of these days.”

The heavy snowfall this winter is good news for local businesses, though. Local hardware stores say they have seen an uptick in business. One local store said after our last big storm in January, they sold out of snow blowers and had to order in a new shipment to keep up with the demand.
