Idaho Falls police captain retires after 24 years of service

The Idaho Falls Police Department is saying goodbye and thank you to Capt. Joe Cawley. He is retiring after 24 years of service to the department.

Cawley began his career at IFPD in September 1993. He served on patrol, investigations and training and as the public information officer. He was promoted to sergeant in 2002, lieutenant in 2006 and captain in 2013.

“We are truly grateful for Joe’s service. He not only fulfilled the duties of a police officer honorably and professionally, but he also brought great perspective, expertise, knowledge and commitment as an administrator within our department. He will be missed,” said IFPD Chief Mark Mcbride.

Cawley officially retires on Saturday.
