Clark County prosecutor named Magistrate Judge

Clark County Prosecutor Kent Guachay has been selected as the new Clark County Magistrate Judge. Guachay was selected by the Seventh Judicial Magistrates Commission from four applicants. Guachay earned an undergraduate degree from Idaho State University in 1975 and a law degree from the University of Idaho. He has practiced law for over 36 years and has partnered with Craig Simpson as private attorneys from 1983 to 2012. For the past three years, he practiced with the firm of Beard, St. Clair, Gaffney. He has served as county prosecutor since June 2009. Administrative District Judge Joel Tingey said he was confident the people of Clark County would be well served by Guachay’s appointment. He will fill the vacancy left by Judge Penny Stanford, who has served the county for over 10 years.
