Search for missing Blackfoot mother scaled back
After four days of searching Rose Pond for any clues into the whereabouts of a missing Blackfoot mother, the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office is scaling back efforts at the Rose Pond area.
The Sheriff’s Office said it will search the pond for a couple of hours each day through Friday starting today. Divers from the Sheriff’s Office, along with dozens of volunteers have spent countless hours searching for Kelley Haney, 37. The Sheriff’s Office will re-evaluate the future of the search on Friday.
The Blackfoot mother was last seen Thursday night. Her husband found her truck, keys and cellphone at the Rose Pond area. He called the Sheriff’s Office around midnight. Search and rescue was called out around 4:00 a.m. Friday.
On Monday, divers reentered Rose Pond after finding an “abnormality” in the water using sonar equipment. The object turned out to be a jacket.
Chief Deputy Jeff Gardner told Local News 8/KIDK they have every reason to believe Haney is in the water. Gardner said investigators do not believe her disappearance is suspicious.
Sheriff Craig Rowland has said every Bingham County Sheriff’s Office detective is assigned a piece of this case. Detectives have interviewed witnesses who claim to have seen Haney at the Rose Pond area Thursday. Detectives have searched her cellphone, questioned friends and family and have no solid clues into where Haney may be.
Rowland said they “will not give up” in their search for Haney.
