Jefferson County to update hazard mitigation plan

Jefferson County has begun to update the Jefferson County Multi-Jurisdiction Hazard Mitigation Plan.

The county, its communities and the many local agencies and organizations with a stake in hazard mitigation have formed a planning team to complete the required 5-year update as part of a FEMA-funded Pre-Disaster Mitigation grant through the Idaho Office of Emergency Management and the University of Idaho.

The plan update will comprehensively revise the now 9-year old plan and include state-of-the-science risk analyses and vulnerability assessments. The update process will focus on the mitigation strategy–what actions have been completed or implemented in the county, what actions remain to be completed and the incorporation of new and additional actions.

The county said public involvement throughout the plan update is important.

You are invited to participate in an opinion survey found at https://hazard-analytics.org/jefferson-county on the Survey page. Paper copies can also be found at the county courthouse, and once completed, returned to Squires.
